Tree Cabling in Omaha
Tree cabling is the process of fortifying the structure of a tree through a supplemental support system to prevent it from being damaged by high winds or snow accumulation.
Why use tree cabling?
Tree cabling is the use of steel stranded cables to reinforce weaker tree branches by cable supporting to another stronger branch. This is beneficial in the event of high winds or heavy snow that would put extra weight on branches that would not be able to withstand it without the support. The purpose is to transfer some of the overweight to a stronger branch.
Many times cabling is needed as a result of improper or inadequate pruning in the past over a long period of time. It is highly recommended that attention be paid to proper and regular attention be paid to pruning to help lessen the need for cabling in the future.
Dynamic cabling is used to allow the tree to move. Tree movement caused by winds is normally healthy for a tree. The movement causes the tree to become stronger so long as the force of the wind doesn't move the tree branches too much.
Sometimes tree development can result in 2 large trunks creating a "V" where the trunk would normally have just a single trunk. I younger trees one of the V's can probably be safely cut off leaving the other trunk to continue to grow to full maturity. In older trees it is generally beneficial to cable these 2 V's together so that as they grow they don't become further apart and end up with the weaker side eventually breaking off and leaving a very unbalance look tree which you would probably end up take out all together.
